Patients are referred for an angiological examination by a general practitioner, internist, diabetologist, orthopedist, neurologist, dermatologist, or another specialist. The angiologist provides specialized vascular care focused on diagnosing, treating, and monitoring patients with vascular diseases, as well as assessing and managing cardiovascular risk factors. Collaboration with general practitioners and internists is crucial in managing chronic vascular conditions.
The angiologist examines, treats, and recommends further diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (e.g., peripheral artery catheterization or referral for varicose vein surgery).
Patients with unstable, severe, or complicated vascular conditions remain under the permanent supervision of an angiologist.
